Guidelines for Best Practices
Alberta Government’s “Guidelines for Best Practices: Creating Learning Environments that Respect Diverse Sexual Orientations, Gender Identities and Gender Expressions” released on January 16, 2016.
Please visit http://understandingtheguidelines.ca/ to get information about the importance of these guidelines, and the difference they will make in the lives of LGBTQ students and their school community.
The Calgary Sexual Health Centre has been providing services and supports for the LGBTQ communities for decades. In addition to our comprehensive sexual education curriculum, which teaches about sexual health for all individuals, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation, we also offer counselling services for topics related to gender and sexual orientation.
Since 2013, we have also been proud to host Calgary’s Camp fYrefly – an annual summer camp for LGBTQ and allied youth from ages 14-24. These are, of course, just a sampling of some of the services that we offer to LGBTQ individuals.
